I drew this a while ago in my illustration class at my university. I was really proud of it,because it was my first time using India ink since the 3rd grade. Its a bird obviously but I didn’t directly base it on any particular bird, I played with the idea of an eagle with parrot like colors.

    I really like the movement in the piece, the bird appears to be giving a very dynamic tail whip,but really it is just kinda cleaning its feathers. I am happy to have captured such a wonderful pose and share it with everyone. I have learned that I really enjoy drawing birds and will be drawing more in the upcoming weeks of summer break.

Please let me know what you think in the comments below :-}

Thanks,
Darren

Thoughts on Life and Art

Some days art just feels like the only thing that matters. Whether its the doodle on the side of a notebook in class, or a character that you have in your head and you want to give life to the image you have conducted, or a simple free-form set of words and shapes,or simply capturing the beauty of my Father’s handiwork in my sketch book so that its represented in my own way I count that in a way as a blessing to be able to think just as my Father think about creation and how he gives us the opportunity to create like him. Even though the creation I conjure aren’t perfect and often times I don’t complete my work I believe that he is smiling at my work saying words of encouragement or suggestion here and there.

He says to me things like
“Hey wouldn’t that line work great below that shape instead of above?” or things like “You made a great capture of the form of that bird in motion, well done!”

These are only fractions of the way He speaks to me on a daily basis. The wonderful thing is that I am humbled because he speaks to all of us in this manner,but very seldom do we listen to what he has to offer.

My goals this summer are very simple to show the beauty of the world and add to it with my creativity from within my spirit that is supplied with all the tools necessary to create.

I have really documented tasks planned out as well as more loose forms of art to create this summer and I hope that they are all completed.

Whoever deems this post worthwhile I appreciate all your comments, thoughts,encouragements and questions.

Peace,
DarrenbyDesign

Hey there I am a new designer, hoping to meet great designers and artists to learn as much as I can that I didn’t learn in school. Also, since I don’t like being a parasite I will share all that I have learned with others. Cheers.

Q:WHERE WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO VISIT ON YOUR PLANET?

tumblrbot

I would like to visit the marianas trench if I could survive the water pressure and could avoid drowining. I am super curious whether or not the leviathan exsists and whether or not it is as huge as I thought it is described
